You need to go to the Menu and look for the program, then look for Embedded Messages then enter this password 374612 you must check the box from the tones settings only. after that, click write. the next time you read your 1702 all tones will show.
Hi, I have that firmware and all are working fine… there is a hidden menu from CPS version 1.00.78 under program then look for the Embedded Messages then put the password 374612 and you will find all hidden features or menu, you can even choose English only for the language so you won’t have this Chinese language. I appreciate all the input you done so far. We are an unlucky bunch, who have a mix of 1702(A/B) models.
All started with the same issue, like most of you, Radio arrive, we try to program it and every time we try to read/write/update the radio reboots. Firmware on those radios read L05. With your help I was able to read and write using the 6DMR software, how ever that software have limitation on frequencies and lack some options in the UI, where regular MD-X works just fine.
Does anyone know how to make 1702 work? Any help will be appreciated. I would rather re-flash radios, but can not do that either as stated above.

To those who is interested. I have obtained another copy of MD software which works with DM-1702 v2 hardware running an L5 firmware with all similar features you expect from MD-X and 1702 v1 hardware.
So far I was able to identify 1 bug, how ever:
If strong encryption is set on the channel and the same key is typed in manually into two radios, one of which are version 2 with L5 another one is older version running 2.2.23 it fails to decrypt traffic. Apparently there is a bug in the software and my guess that hashing process have changed, resulting in failure of backward comparability between DM1702 v1 and DM1702 v2 strong encryption. Basic encryption works.
P.S. Still trying to figure out GPS over APRS. When transmit, GPS coordinates are not sent to other correspondents on the frequencies.

I also have a problem with the new firmware. I can’t transmit at 70 cm.
Regarding APRS, it is ONLY DIGITAL. Does not work at 144,800 MHz.

Firmware Version DM-1702-V2.2 (L05.01.005).
I didn’t really like this radio for direct use. Is it possible to use it to get a hotspot for BM?
if you mean, it works like a hotspot — it can’t work. Another model can. 18 … it was something

Correct :). The radio is cheap. My first one. I have 2 pieces of it. The capacities of both do not match.
But one fine day I decided to raise the level. I orientated myself for the better.
I use separately the hotspot-popular simplex model with 1 antenna. I will soon replace it with a duplex one.

DM-X’s CPS radio information shows the ranges 144-148 & 430-450 MHz instead of 136-174 & 400-470 MHz, is that all right?
And it have 800 memory cells for contacts instead of 1024.
When I activate the record menu item in CPS, this item does not appear in the radio menu. Recording not supported?

APRS function works only over DMR channel and deliver data to specified DMR ID in this radio. It works well between two stations, but i need to get GPS data on my laptop or raspberry.
There are many solutions to decode APRS over analog channel, but is there any way to decode DMR APRS data?

on one of my CH-6DMR ( DM1706 Baofeng board Dm-1706-v2.1) I lost Audio without any reason
no sound on boot up , no sound when receiving analog an digital
I do absolutely nothing special except live it pluged on the charger open listening some comunication.
I have no sound with the earplug to. Try to reset it and progaming it again and nothing hapened…
Any Idea or should be stard thinking thaht the audio power amplier is dead …tda 2822 lt908 componant.
