I’m new to this forum, but not new to radio at all. I’m Buddy, KB5ELV, in Erie, PA, licensed ham for (Gasp) 26 years. I’m the author of several “eyes-free” operating guides for the Wouxun KG-UVD1P/2D/3D, the Boafeng UV5R, and most recently the Puxing PX-UV973. With support from buytwowayradios.com I’m working on one for the Wouxun KG-UV920P, and soon the new KG-UV8D. While these guides were initially written for blind operators, an audience for whom these radios have been fairly popular, it seems those of y’all light slaves have found them useful as well, and I seem to have become, at least in the blind ham community, the Chinese handheld goto guy. Who would have thunk?
Ham radio interests include radio over IP (using asterisk, generally), but also hf cw, yeah, I’m one of those, but I’m not one to hold it against you if you’re not one of those.
