Wouxun KG-905G VFO Mode

I’ve only had this radio a day, so I’m not all that familiar with it yet but I just ran into a problem: I was playing with the Scan feature and it somehow seemed to have gotten the radio stuck in VFO mode. I realize this radio doesn’t actually claim to have a VFO mode but that’s what it looked like. It started scanning at 400.000 mhz and going up. I don’t know how it got stuck in that mode and I couldn’t figure out how to get it out of it. I tried powering it off, removing the battery, nothing. I ended up having to do a factory reset which meant reprogramming my various settings. Has anybody else run into this? Is there a more elegant way out?

I owned the KG-905G, but have not had it for a while. I gave it to my son-in-laws grandfather to use on his ranch. My son-in-law gave his grandfather a 905G so he would have two and could stay in contact with while working his ranch where there is little cell coverage. It is a great radio.

Having said that I couldn’t remember anything about scanning. I reread the manual and am still at a loss to find anything to help you. From the manual:

"By default the [PF2] key is assigned to the SCAN function. In standby, press the [PF2]
key to initiate a channel scan. The radio will scan each channel for activity, starting from
the current channel. Pressing the [UP] / [DOWN] keys while scanning will change
the direction of the scan from low to high ([UP]) or high to low ([DOWN]). Press any
other key to stop the scan. Refer to the Scan Method menu item (p 31) for more
information on the types of scans available.

I can’t figure out how it would be starting a scan at 400.000 unless one of the channels was programmed to that frequency. Hopefully someone else will chime and have the answer to you questions.

Thanks for the reply. I suspect I’ll never run into it again. For what I’m using it for I don’t I’ll ever use the scan feature and that’s what I way playing with when it happened.

I saw your post a while back and could not for the life of me remember how to do this even though I would up in the same situation when I first got the radio. With the radio turned on enter the menu from the red menu button. I don’t know if it matters what number selection you are on but use #1 for sure, press the red menu button again as if to change the selection but no need to change anything just press the menu button again and then press the bottom function key under the PTT. Keep repeating until you get to the display that you want. I don’t think this is in the manual and I haven’t found it noted anywhere else, I kind of just stubled on it by accident.
