Wouxun KG-1000G CTCSS not working?

I’ve had my wouxun kg-1000g for a couple of years now. Rarely ever used. It seemed to work ok at first but then it stopped hitting my local repeaters. After a while, I unplugged it and moved on. I’m getting all my radios set back up now and I’ve put up a new antenna (Yagi). I am receiving and I am transmitting as received in simplex on my portable. However I cannot make contact on any repeater. I can receive with strong signals on the meter, but I cannot get through to key up the repeater. I have verified the CTCSS codes. Then disabled them, and re-entered them, but no change. As a last resort, I “reset” the radio and now when I power up the radio I get a 430 and 144 mhz on the dual display. So, I am looking for answers to my CTCSS issue as well as how to get the radio back to GMRS functions. HELP!

You said that it couldn’t communicate with local repeaters, yet it did TX on simplex? If it is TX simplex to a handheld, it’s transmitting. How far away from the KG-1000G antenna is the portable radio? There can be other reasons besides CTCSS and DCS mismatches that can prevent it from transmitting to a repeater. For instance, if it is only transmitting at very low power, a nearby handheld may be able to pick it up, but not a repeater several miles away.

When you “reset” the radio, was it performed through the menu? I’m asking because you had reset in quotation marks.

Is the KG-1000G using the original firmware, or has it ever been modified with any third party firmware?
