Will We Have Ham Antennas in HOAs in 2025?

Episode 206 of The Two Way Radio Show Podcast is online. We discuss the reintroduction of a bill proposed to Congress in 2023 to allow ham radio operators to erect antennas in deed restricted communities, and the grass roots effort to get it passed.

The bill will die if it is not signed into law by the outgoing Congress in early 2026.

I listened to TWRS-206 this morning. I think I commented on your last podcast about this subject last year. I’ll not bore you with that and just say I have no faith in our Federal government, ARRL, nor HOA’s. I do enjoy your podcasts though! Thanks for expending the time and effort for us.

I use ½ wave portable antenna it is 24½ tip and could add on for more height.

The telescoping antenna is 18½ feet with 6 foot camera tripod

It does telescope to 24 inch for backpack

HOA’s are pain in the but to do anything.
Most cities limit the antenna height to 35 feet and if live county or business zoning 60 limit with permit and this can got planning department and see get a greater height like cellphone companies did.

They start at 60 feet and in places goto over 150 feet after going to the FCC and FAA.
