what is the difference?

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to get information on Radios so this will lead to other posts. Sorry if I sound uniformed.

What is the difference between UHF, VHF, Gmrs, Frs and then the 700, 800 and 900 MHZ???:confused:

Just trying ot get a handle on it to help with possible purchase in the future.

Different bands. Different frequency ranges. Performance differs on all bands and each is used by a different service. GMRS and FRS use UHF, in the 450 Mhz area. Commercial equipment and public safety can use all the bands you mentioned.

It depends on what your needs are… personal, business, etc. Most services require a license, and many require frequency coordination… essentially a whole lot of work.
