Hi there newby here!

So some advice please, I have an elderly Icom - 290a all mode 2m TRX. All working well after recapping . The freq display (red) is very dim and difficult to read and in sunlight almost impossible to read.

I have looked and cleaned all the multi plug connectors but the problem persists

Any advice or pearls of wisdom would be appreciated

I had the IC-260E, and it did exactly the same - I suspect it’s just the LEDs aging. In the end, I scrapped it - which was a great shame, but 40 years is a long time! Paul

Many thanks rather thought that might be the case will put it on the pending shelf for now may break it and sell for spares as the radio operation is otherwise 100% :-/
