Using Midland LXT 354 with Motorola Talkabout 5500

Hi,

I have a pair of Motorola Talkabout 5500 two way radios which I want to use with another pair of Midland LXT 345. The thing is while the Midland receives any transmissions from the Motorola, the Motorola on the other hand does not receive any transmissions from the Midland. Hence its more like a one-way communication between the Motorola and the Midland. Both the sets are on the same channel (channel 1 @ 462.5625 MHz GMRS/FRS as specified in the manuals of both the sets) and work fine within themselves just not amongst themselves. Can someone please guide me as to how to get the sets working with each other? Thanks for all your help.

I would take a look at the privacy codes. It sounds like on of the radios has a privacy subchannel set not allowing it to communicate with the other.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Yes it was the issue with the privacy codes although on the Motorola, they are called “Interference Eliminator Codes”. Anyway problem solved and much thanks for your help.

Glad that helped!!
