Another interesting podcast! I have two HT radios that have Bluetooth. One has BT for programming and the other for connecting wireless earpieces, mics, etc. I used an app on my phone to program the amateur HT and it worked well. It is not something I use often. I have used the other radio to connect to my hearing aids for listening. The radio has limited RX and must be used with VOX to TX. I don’t use the BT on that radio due to those two limitations. I don’t think I want to use a smartphone to talk via radio although I am sure there are people out there that will geek out over that. It will be interesting to see how people will use the BT on the VGC radio. I haven’t tried a radio that has all of the controls on the mic. I kind of like having my mobile mounted in a spot above my rear view mirror, where I can glance at it without completely taking my eyes off of the road. I can see the advantage of being able to mount the radio body out of sight for security purposes. I welded a steel locked box to hold my 2m mobile when I owned a Jeep. I had a lot of things stolen out of that Jeep including the empty ashtray but nobody ever got the radio. Thanks for the podcast.
