The real of formula the FCC has is very llong and Manufacturers like to print only to sell products. Even if do most do not know what data means.

Dave - I don’t want to be the one who keeps telling you to check - but Watts has no part in producing a wavelength from a frequency. The constant being the speed of light - so if you want the wavelength, you simply divide 300 (well strictly speaking a tiny bit less 299.792458) by the frequency in MHz. So 300 divided by 145 =2.068 metres. The 100 x the square root of Wattage doesnt work. Your forumula is broken. Let’s say you have a 100W output on 145MHz - the result of that is over 6m, and we know it’s 2!! The FCC don’t as far as I know publish forumii like these.
The miles to meters ones is broken too! 1000 metres is NOT 625 miles!
To convert miles into metres you just multiply the miles by 1.6 and this gives you the answer in Kilometres as in 50 miles x 1.6 = 80Km.
I know you have searched this out on the internet - but 625 miles is very different from 1000 metres by a HUGE amount.
