Radios talking over each other

I have a fleet of Motorola CP100d radios, we are using a Motorola repeater and digital channels.
I have an issue where one person is transmitting and another will try to respond before the first person is finished and they end up transmitting at the same time and you just hear a garbled message.
I am trying to find out how in the CPS software, either re-programming all the radios or programming the repeater to make it so they cannot transmit unless the channel is clear. I have seen this feature in a couple TYT radios I’ve tried but I can’t find it in the Motorola CPS software. What am I missing?
Thanks for the help!

The option that you are looking for in the CPS is called “TX:Admit Criteria”. When its set to always it allows you to talk over other transmissions as the transmissions “always” go through. I think the option that would be best suited for you would be to set that option to “channel free”.

To sum it up, in the CPS, under “TX:Admit Criteria” change it from “always” to “channel free”.

You would change that setting in all your handhelds and not the repeater.
