Radio compatibility

Hello all,

New to the site.
Need some help.
I have a half dozen Vertex standard VX 351 AG7B-5 two way radios UHF 450-512 Mhz range, (16 channel) that I use for my employees. I want to continue to use these radios and add additional ones. My question is regarding compatibility. If I want to add additional radios that will communicate with my existing radios, would they have to be the exact same make and model or does it not matter who the manufacturer is as long as the radios are of the UHF 450-512 Mhz range? What , if anything would I have to do to add additional radios that will communicate with my existing ones?

If they can be set to the same frequency and have any matching CTCSS tones you may be using, then they should work fine. It goes wrong once you have digital kit that is far more difficult to programme. All you need are the details which are usually on the licence.
