Power Suppy Question

I have a Wouxun 980p ham and Im receiving a Wouxun KG-1000G-PLUS tomorrow. Can I hook both up to the one power supply as long as I only run one at a time?

Receive takes very little power so you should be able to run both at the same time. Transmit one at a time.

It does rather depend on the current capability of the power supply. If you have two radios that need say, 7 Amps on transmit for one and 5 Amps on transmit for the other, then a 15A capable power supply could power both on transmit. If however, it’s a 10A power supply, pressing transmit on both is not going to work.

One receive and one transmit, is fine as was mentioned above - but you will at some point forget!

I already purchased a new power suppy thanks.

So what current capability does it have. Did you look at your radio specs, see the power requirements and buy a big enough PSU? In my rack i now have three! As i often have too many radios and have to spread the load.

That all said, I have two main radios. A ham dual bander and a marine radio, and they share a 6A power supply which is very, very close for one of them on transmit. However, i have never popped the PSU.
