Hi all, just signed up to join the forum so a big thank you and hello to all far and wide from Australia. I’m quite new to the whole forum etiquette thing so I apologise in advance for any wrongdoing shenanigans I may proceed to commit unknowingly… And now to my issue (the reason I joined in the first place!)…
Having purchased two new Baofeng radios, the first a UV13 Pro, then several weeks later, the UV21 Pro V2, for the life of me I cannot get these blasted things to transmit more than just a few metres? As in 30-40 meters line of sight. Whilst I may also be quite new to these radios, I’ve ensured that they are set to exactly the same freq., settings, ect., however nothing seems to allow me to transmit to my receiving partner, and visa versa, for any more than around 30-40 meters? I’ve tried alternating the frequency, from the mid 400 MHz range (ex. 450.525 all the way to 140.000) yet nothing seems to work? Firstly, has anyone else had said problem with their radios, and secondly, if so, is their a solution, before I simply give up and use them as a fanciful paperweight? It occurs regardless of the time of day/night, location, weather, ect. To put this into perspective, I can barely make either signal last the length of a cricket pitch. Oh, further, the same goes for receiving on either end. I’ve not once received a signal other than the drone of some unruly beacon nearby on occasions, but that is unfortunately it. Any advice/solution would be of much help and certainly much appreciated. Thanks in advance to any magician with enough intellect wizardry to cast my way in an attempt to overcome the abovemention curse.
