New to Gmrs radios help

I am new to gmrs. I am looking for an entry level radio with gmrs and frs. I will use it while traveling with friends and for fishing and hunting.

Suggestions?

Welcome to the forum. My suggestion would be to:

  1. Figure out what your budget is for a radio.
  2. Decide if you want a radio that is water and dust resistant?
  3. Do you want USB-C charging?
  4. Do want a radio that you can listen to frequencies outside of GMRS?

There are a lot of good radios out there and a lot that are not as good but cheap. I have had many brands and many radios. I now have Wouxon GMRS radios and have not regretted spending a little more to have what I want. If you have friends with GMRS radios ask them what they like and don’t like about their radios. The owners of this forum offer a wide selection of GMRS radios. That would be a good place to start.

When you find a radio you are interested in or if you have specific questions about certain radios ask here.

Good luck

Hi there! My name’s Chandler, and I’m a member of the Buy Two Way Radios team. We have quite a few entry level options available for GMRS radios; however, I just wanted to chime in with my personal favorite, the KG-S65G from Wouxun. While I wouldn’t call it a “cheap” radio, it comes in at a very cost effective price point. Couple that with the large feature list, and Wouxun’s fantastic menu system, I think it’s a great choice if you’re looking for a radio that won’t be too complex, but also want leave you wanting for features down the road. I have provided a link to the product page below if you would like to take a look.
