Antennas can do different things with RF, in the way that they ‘launch’ it - angles, polar patterns, maximising VSWR, but the radio that drives it has no ability whatsoever to go through or around obstacles. Swap a 4W radio on a frequency with exactly the same deviation setting for another make, and if the same deviation and power output are present - the two radios will perform identically. One could have good and the other less good audio. but the signal doesn’t change characteristics with or without a power mic!
