Motorola RDU2020 and RDU2040 question

Good afternoon,

I am having difficulty getting my new Motorola RDU2040 radios on the same frequency as my existing RDU2020 radios. I’m feeling very stupid and it looks like this is the right place to get help! I have zero experience with these.

Can someone walk me through the process? YouTube videos have not been helpful and I’ve followed the manual the best I could but haven’t had any luck.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Joe, Are you referring to the RMU2040? It sounds like the old radios may be programmed to different frequencies. If you are using default frequencies on all the radios, technically they should talk to each other. However, if your old radios have been programmed to other frequencies and CTCSS codes, you will need to program the new radios to those as well.

If you don’t know what the frequencies are on the RDU2020, you will need to enter programming mode and read the values or obtain a programming cable, download the CPS (Computer Programming Software) from Motorola’s web site and connect to the radio to obtain the frequencies and codes.

Details and instructions are included on pages 36 and 48 in the Motorola RDX Series User Guide.
