I just took a Motorola GP300 as a partial payment on a Craigslist trade. I know nothing about the radio other than it seems to work? I can pick some of the channels with a scanner, but when I attempt to receive on the same frequency with my baofeng the baofeng gets nothing. Does anyone have any ideas as to why the scanner would get a signal but not the baofeng. I have checked to make sure that no rx tone was assigned on the baofeng. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The radio itself is in great shape and the battery appears to hold a decent charge. I have learned from a few internet searches with the model number that it is a VHF unit. I am trying to decide if I sell it or hang on to it, if I do keep it is there any VHF frequencies that I can use license free for recreational purposes?
