Mode Need be 2.5K Type

Mode Need be 2.5 type is the pop up I get when trying to write to the Wouxun uv-950 Quad band radio. I can read the radio.

I downloaded both the 2.5 and the 5 software from the Wouxun website. I also just purchased the cable which came with the big and small cd of the programming and driver. I’m guessing something simple?

Hi, first, I need a few details about the setup. Did you read from the radio first, saved the programming file, then loaded the file back into the programming software, added your frequencies and then attempted to upload it to the radio?

Is this a brand new 950P or an older version? Which version of Windows are you using? Did you install the 32-bit or 64-bit driver?

I got the radio from ebay the other day. I received the red cable and software yesterday which included a big and small dvd. I downloaded both the 5 and 2.5 software from the Wouxun.com website the other day and saved it so I could program it when I got the cable. I am using windows 7

I programmed some things via the keypad when I got the radio but yesterday when I got the cable I first tried to dump what I had in and got that pop up. After retrying a couple times I decided to read the radio. I have both the read and the new that I want programmed in saved seperately.

I tried to rewrite what I read from the radio also and got the same popup

Got it to work. Turned out I had to use the 5K software.

Okay, in your first post you said you downloaded both versions, so I thought you meant you had already tried them both and neither worked. That is why I didn’t ask.

I did try them both actually but I’m wondering if I didnt have the driver downloaded. I guess I figured the 2.5 was the newer software also. So is it that there are 2 different versions of the radio since there is 2 softwares and the 2.5 one isnt working?

The 2.5k software is indeed newer. The KG-UV950P was originally released with a minimum 5k step. The 2.5 version of the radio was released a couple of months later. The 2.5k software will only work on the 2.5k radio. Apparently you have one of the older radios.
