Midland MXT105

Trying to understand the difference between the Midland MXT105, MXT100, and the MXT90.

Thanks,

Barry

Based on recent research, I think the MXT90 is a Walmart/eBay model only. It uses the micromobile form factor, but adds some kind of cheap Chinese junk mag mount antenna. I would avoid at all costs. It seems Midland has never officially advertised or marketed this model. Maybe even a Chinese counterfeit?

The MXT100 was the first official Midland micromobile. Very highly rated.

The MXT105 is a slightly upgraded version. It adds weather channels and is slightly cheaper than the MXT100. Get the MXT105.

The MXT105 is part of the new 2017 line, that also includes the MXT115 and MXT140.

  • MXT105 adds weather channels.
  • MXT115 is 15 watts power (versus the 5 watts of the MXT105,) plus adds repeater channels.
  • MXT400 adds 40 watts of power.

Hope this helps. the MXT105 was just released this month and many retailers may be selling the older MXT100. Our forum hosts at buytwowayradios dot com already have the MXT105 in stock. No reason to get the older MXT100.

Hi Barry,

We discussed all three new MXT radios in Episode 108 of The Two Way Radio Show Podcast.

An article about the MXT radios covering the basic features and differences between the MXT105, MXT115 and MXT400 was posted on our blog this morning. It should help answer your question.

We just released a new unboxing video for all three models in the MXT Series.
