Midland and Kenwood

I just picked up the Midland GXT 740 2-way radios, to replace the Midland LXT 326 model I had been using previously. Now, I was using a headset with the LXT that seemed to work fine. The headset I had been using works fine with both radios. However, I am looking to upgrade my headset but the options for the pin-set are as follows:

-Kenwood 2 Pin
-Moto 2 Pin
-Icom 2 Pin

I have mistakenly gone with the Kenwood 2 Pin, only discovering now that the pins do not fit (they are mm off). For some reason I thought the Kenwood would fit fine.

I am going out on a limb and will say that I should have gotten the Moto 2 Pin? Or will none of those options work with the Midland radios?

I want to use a Swimmer-Style Headset (boom mic and ear piece) with the large PTT button that is easily found.

Any help would be appreciated.

You will want to get a headset designed to work with Midland radios:

This one sounds close to what you are looking for: http://www.buytwowayradios.com/products/midland/avp-1.aspx

A throat-mic isn’t going to work. This is what I have: http://www.ebairsoft.com/swimmer-style-headset-with-peltor-p-2548.html

I can easily replace the PTT button…would the Moto-2 Pin work on a Midland? I am pretty sure most of the other guys have Midland Radios and similar headsets.

Motorola headsets will not work with Midland radios. You will need to find one with Midland connectors.
