I’m trying to find a FRS/GMRS handheld that will work with the ~100 ohm microphones found on aviation headsets. We won’t be using these for aviation, but want them for racecar to pit communication. We have standard racing headsets in our helmets, but the standard commercial handhelds most people use have restricted frequency ranges which can lead to interference. We don’t want to switch out our helmet headsets for the higher impedance headsets that are frequently used by most FRS/GMRS units.
The Chatterbox motorcycle communicators use the lower impedance microphones, but these really are not suitable for our purposes.
