What about linking gmrs repeaters together using RF , other radios. Would that be legal?
Well, that would be called ……………. A repeater!
I’m talking about having two repeaters, one on mountain A and the second repeater on mountain B. Then hook them together by means of other radios . Since there both on the mountain tops they can easily talk to each other.
I might not be explaining it exactly right but this should give you an ideal of what I’m trying to say.
Well, the definition of a repeater is a radio that receives on one frequency and retransmits this on a different frequency. Your idea does exactly this, it is a repeater and not allowed. In fact - when people do actually link two repeaters, it can be done by landlines, the internet or off air. If they are linked, that, as I understand it, is not allowed.
There isn’t enough spectrum on GMRS to accommodate RF linking.
