A superhet has a lot better selectivity than a direct-conversion receiver. Digital signal processing has cleaned up direct conversion receivers a lot, making them fairly decent to use nowadays,
A superheterodyne receiver like the Wouxum KG-1000G transceiver I have is much better. Better selectivity and sensitivity. Cost more to make but needed in most situations.
