It seems like the KG-S series are cursed? Or I just have bad luck.
I had one KG-S88G that had issues with the audio coming in and out (nothing to do with the signal strength or distance to the repeater).
Now my KG-S65S is doing the same thing, on the local NOAA weather channel. This seems to be an issue with these compact radios, and not Wouxun in general, as my 935G and -H work fine.
I really want to like these little guys, but performance is disappointing.
Do you have any of the “Priority” scan features turned on? I have never used the “Priority” feature on any of my Wouxuns, but in many radios with a scan feature; “Priority” will take a bite out of received transmissions (usually every few seconds or so). That can cause a condition such as you have noted.
At first, I thought you might be experiencing the CTCSS/DCS glitch I have experienced with every one of my KG-series GMRS radios. That this problem is happening on your WX receive leads me to believe it is not the CTCSS/DCS decoder glitch.
