My kg-1000 plus will be on and everything is going great, and then it will just get quiet and no controls will work on the head or hand mic, I tried using the short rj45 cable and the long one I had the same reaction, if I disconnect the power and reconnect it will work fine ???

I do not have that radio, however just as a basic trouble shooting step check that your power source connections are sound. A loose connection or a power wire that has been chrushed (ask me how I know) can cause all sorts of problems.
