Hi, All: New here. I am a retired, FCC licensed 2-way radio technician. I worked in a Motorola service center for16 years. I have a neighbor who works for the USDA. I do a lot of repair work for them on all sorts of things. Yesterday he brought me a Kenwood TK-790 and wants to modify the frequency list. He needs to add 170.000 for his drone guy to use, I believe, with the FAA? Online reading leaves me with a couple of questions:
I find 2 software packages, one for wide band and one for narrow band. I have no way of knowing if this has been “narrow banded” or not. Any easy way to tell that? I use a Motorola R2200 service monitor, if that info is helpful.
Will the narrowband software work for an earlier wide band model, or will it automatically “narrowband” the set? Since I don’t know what all of his radios are, I need to be careful about that. That said, I don’t want to buy standard software and find out I need narrow band, or vice versa.
Can anyone be of assistance?
