Garmin Rinos 120 and 530

This has been a great source for radio information, thanks to the members. I have been looking to purchase another radio and looking at the rinos, was hoping someone here has had a chance to evaluate them, especially the new 530 boasting 5 watts of power…does it really compare to the other top frs/gmrs radios listed here?

thanks,

Hi,

Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance to try out the Garmin Rino’s, although we’ve had a few customers ask about them. If you decide to purchase them, it would be great if you would come back and let us know what you think. I have always been a little hesitant when it comes to combination (GPS/2 Way) products like the Rino, but if they do work well then perhaps we can look into carrying them on the site.

Thanks for the quick reply, I have decided to go with the midland gxt800. It seems to be a bit more rugged for the outdoors and has more volume, needed around atvs. I will have a chance to compare to a rino 530 in a couple of weeks, so will be glad to follow up and post my findings.

Howard,

I think you will be happy with the Midland GXT800. People seem to love the sound quality and durability, and we have received a lot of positive feedback thus far.

Looking forward to hearing what you think of it, as well as feedback on the Rinos!

Danny
