Frequency steps Baofeng

Hello, long time lurker, first time poster here.
I have several Baofeng radios (UV-XR, UV-5X, AR-5RM and then some others)
My problem is at work we use some preprogrammed uhf radios that are in xxx.59925 mhz for example. When i try to program this into any of my baofeng radios it reverts into xxx.59875 Mhz
I think this is due to how the channel steps are configured and set up, but does this mean that i can not program any of the ones i have, to use at work as a spare radio, or is there something I am missing or can change?
Kind regards
Norsie

I haven’t used any of the Baofeng radios except the UV-5R and the BF-F8+ (which was also basically a UV-5R, but with an inverted white on black display), but as a general rule, there should be an item in the menu called STEP that allows you to set the frequency step between 2.5 - 25kHz.

Speaking of Baofeng, here’s a little inside trivia on the making of the “movie trailer” video we produced for the launch of the Wouxun KG-S88G two years ago. The shot of the Wouxun radio standing over the remains of a broken Baofeng across the floor at the 0:21 mark of the video below was my own aforementioned BF-F8+ radio, or what was left of it, after it was totally destroyed for the scene. For the record, no Wouxuns were harmed in the making of that motion picture.

Are you sure of that frequency step? Many radios can do 2.5KHz steps, but xxx.600, xxx.5975, xxx.5950 and then your xxx.5925 are so close together that they’re probably wrong. most common channels are still 12.5KHz apart, and the filters on many radios would allow 4 or even 6 2.5KHz channels to apparently hear the same thing. I cannot imagine this level of frequency designation here in the UK. The Government here have not gone to 6.25KHz channels for ham, marine and business general - so something may be adrift?

Hey Paul, thank you for your inputs.
I have double checked the UHF frequencies and they go like this
xxx.59925 CTSS 107.2
xxx.79925 CTSS 118,8
xxx.82425 CTSS 131.8
xxx.84925 CTSS 146.2
xxx.97425 CTSS 88.5
I have tried to change my steps, but i can not get to those frq, even if my radios are supporting that range and others.

To be honest if your radio is in the lowest frequency step mode you’ll probably find you hear those frequencies on two maybe three frequencies! Get close and it will probably be close enough

So I finally found the solution to this. I followed the guide here (youtube) and just scanned each freq, and then stored them, no problem what so ever. Just posting this in case anyone else have similar problems.
