Unit is baofeng uv-5g. Instruction book says to press and hold the hash tag(#) key for 5 seconds while in gmrs mode. Is that the same as channel mode? When I follow these instructions, all the radio does is lock and unlock. I can’t pull up NOAA.
I see this is an old message, but just in case others stumble upon this…You’ve made the mistake of actually reading the manual. It’s more often wrong than right. As you’ve seen, the # key is for locking/unlocking the keypad. Oh yes, it’ll also shift between high and low power in VFO mode, which is next to useless since you can’t transmit in VFO mode. The NOAA channels are in memory locations 117-127 but there’s no scan for them.
