Hello!
I’ve spent the last three weeks researching the DTR series of Motorola radios, and have vacuumed up myriad posts from Chickenhawk, n1das, and many others, both on this forum and similar bulletin boards around the web. I am both overwhelmed and thrilled by the amount of information out there!
Unfortunately, while I was initially excited to receive a pair of DTR700 to experiment with, after factory defaulting them, when I try to input a new four-digit PIN, I get the following error message:
“Configuration Not Allowed”
Questions as Follows:
- Do I need to buy the USB data cable to fix this?
- If so, how would I proceed?
- If not, is there a way to set the PIN directly through the front panel UI?
Everything I’ve read online gives me the impression that for someone just interested in using this with family/friends, one needs only to factory reset the walkie talkie, and input a unique four-digit PIN to make it exceptionally unlikely to both broadcast to and/or pick up anyone else, and for my simple usage, that sounds great!
However, I am at a standstill, and would appreciate any/all guidance.
