Computer Programming

Hello everyone!

This is my first post in the group. I’m hoping there is an answer… Does anyone have the QYT kit 8900. If so dif you encounter issues while programming the radio using a computer.

It took a few try’s to get the software to download from the website QYT provided. At this point I am unable to communication between the radio and USB connection. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone.

With windows 10 and windows 11 being worse, programming is never simple. Windows 11, for example, often misidentifies your cable. Open device manager, go down to ports and see if the cable has been recognised as a serial device and has a port number. The software needs this. Often on 11, the cables are recognised as uarts, and do not have a port number and appear in the section above ports in device manager. You then need to update the driver. Which may be first attempt or take ages to seek out drivers on the net.

Second issue is that not all cables are identical. Some of my dozens of cables refuse to work with windows 11 but are happy on 10. Some older ones dont work at all on 11 and are hit and miss on 10. I have two office computers one 10 and one 11, and i have to remember which radio, cable and software combo work.
