Channel confusion on Midland radio

Hi
I have a Midland GXT1000 and Midland 75-822. I’m going with some friends on a road trip in a couple of weeks and they say I should set my radio to 4.1, I asked if they are using CTCSS or DCS and they said GSRM. I have read both radio manuals a couple of times but i’m completely stumped on how to set the .1.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The GXT1000 is an FRS/GMRS radio and the Midland 75-822 is a CB radio. They are two different types of radios. What type of radios are your friends using?

They have the Motorola MR350R

The Motorola Talkabout MS350R is also an FRS/GMRS radio. Your GXT1000 is compatible with the MS350R. Both radios have 22 channels. FRS and GMRS frequencies are the same on each channel. All you should need to do is set them all to the same channel with the same CTCSS/DCS code.

Matching up the channels and privacy codes on the GXT1000 does require an extra step. This video explains what you need to do.
