Finally there is a handheld GMRS radio that performs on the simplex channels and the repeater channels with 5 watts of power. The radio will receive the FRS channels and the MURS channels along with the UHF and VHF band but won’t transmit on them. Also included is reception of the FM broadcast band. After receiving FCC certification the radio is being sold for $ 55.00. Joined by the new GMRS only mobile units coming from Midland, it appears that the industry is finally taking GMRS seriously.
