What do you think about the K5 Plus, I kind of enjoy it myself receives and transmits really well where I live in the rural area. I just recently purchased 10 of them we use them for work all day farm which is over 1500 acres, we are nowhere near repeaters and we don’t interrupt anybody else
If you are rural, and they work ok, range wise theyre fine. Typical downsides to do with their receiver performance in busy RF areas dont apply. As long as you lock they keypad so sticking in a pocket does press buttons, that solves going to different modes and channels. I cannot comment on legality as i dont know where you are. Here in the UK, OFCOM, our version of the US FCC wouldnt get involved as long as you were in a band where a higher power licence was available on line. These are shared pool frequencies, that in cities are full, but in the country far less so. They would be involved if youve picked a random channel, and worse, if you are interfering with other services, in america, these radios are for hams, and as far as i know are not suitable for general use? I suppose it depends on location, morals and ethics.
