We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids (aged 8 and 10) who live on an 80 acre farm. We need handheld communication that we all can use, w/GPS preferably, that will work around the farm as well as on our trip to Europe. Something all can use is necessary. We have Motorola’s (several models) in our office and at home and are not thrilled.
Ideas? Reliability, accuracy, ease of use, sound quality, quality quality hoped for!
Anything sold here in the USA will not work in Europe. The Europeans use different frequencies. You’d have to buy something overseas.
I don’t know how large your farm is mileagewise… this would have to be known to determine what would work for you.
80 acres is not that large, so most two way radios should work.
You may want to look at these (they do not have GPS) as a basic inexpensive set: http://www.buytwowayradios.com/products/midland/midland-gxt-1000-vp4.aspx
For radios with GPS, we have these: http://www.buytwowayradios.com/products/garmin/garmin-rino-120.aspx
You could also use a base station radio at the house for a bit more clarity and range.
While you “could” use them in Europe, you would probably also get in a bit of trouble since they are not approved for use there and may interfere with emergency radios, etc… So you would need to get European approved radios.
Just give us a call and we will help you out. 1-800-584-1445
