Newbie - Couple of Questions & Recommendation Please

Hi,
I’m totally new to this and there’s a lot of information to absorb in the beginning.

I’m looking for some long range 2 way radios, the Mitex seem quite reasonable for the price but there doesn’t seem to be an option for charging them in the car which is pretty much a must have.

Can anyone recommend me any alternatives … the must haves are ability to charge via USB / Car Cigarette Lighter, good range in open spaces with line of sight ideally to around 15 miles and hands free operation.

I’m looking at a Simple UK Light license but I’m guessing you can’t have private channels with this type of license … am I correct???

If anyone has any suggestions would be much appreciated.

You can have some element of privacy - as in you won’t hear other people, but anyone can of course hear you if they are on the same channel.

The big problem is 15 miles from handheld to handheld is unlikely. In a flattish area like mine - handheld to my base station aerial is perhaps 4 miles if I’m lucky. Handheld to handheld? Half a mile on a good day. This reduces as ground obstructions get in the way, or you have high ground between.

Hands free? Put any radio in your pocket and the range drops even further.
