That old information came from Cobra. You would think that a major manufacturer would keep up.
I sent Cobra the link to the new rules. I will see if I get a response. I have to say I am really impressed with this site.

There is no longer a need for a license with the FCC.
However, on high powered channels (GMRS CHANNELS 1-7 and 15-22), your Micro talk radios will transmit under 1.5 watts. Which will take more out of your rechargeable battery than the low powered channels (FRS CHANNELS 8-14), that will transmit under 0.5watts .
They really want you to stay on those lower power FRS channels no matter what, don’t they? LOL
