I take tour groups to Central America and use Motorola CP 200s to keep track of people. However, I now need some radios with greater range. Is there a fairly portable mobile radio that could be kept in vehicles while traveling? Something that puts out 30+ watts? I would like the benefit of a mobile radio but without having to install it in a vehicle.
i think adding a repeater to one of the trucks will help and give you more coverage. they are expensive but will be worth the investment. they do make them starting at 280.00usd if you search around.
you do have to be careful. some us radios are not legal in other countries as the frequencies you use could be the same as their fire/rescue. you don’t want to get into trouble…
