Hi,
I’m part of a synagogue security team and we are looking for 2 way radios that we will be able to use for 24-72 hours without changing or charging the batteries. We cannot operate electronics on the sabbath unless it is an emergency, and we don’t want to have to change batteries or switch out the units in an emergency situation. We will have people patrolling our premises and carrying the units, but the only use they will get is someone pushing the squelch (?) button to request assistance, or if there is an actual emergency. I would love to get some advice and recommendations.
Thanks!
My first thought would be to make sure you are using relatively modern radios with lithium batteries, and not the older nimh type.
Also consider going to a digital radio as they consume less power than analog types. Something along the lines of a Motorola CP200D (digital), Vertex digital etc… I can’t be specific, so you’ll have to relay your needs better to the seller. If you do go the digital route, in your situation I’d also be tempted to tame the audio by having your programmer disable AGC, and possibly make a slight manual audio tweak in the settings to provide a more “conversational” sound, rather than the “punchy” audio one needs next to the fire-truck.
