#  Just bought a new Wouxun 945G

Radio functions great but could I get out a little further with something like a Nogoya 771G? The factory antenna is only about 8” tall.

I tested a bunch of antennas with my KG-935G+ and found the stock antenna ended up being one of the best I tested. I have the KG-945 also and it looks like the same antenna although I have not done the same testing with it. The Nogoya 771G and the Melowave Bandit G were the best if I was at the very edge of receiving distance. These days I have a Smiley Slim Line on the radio because it is very flexible and if I find I need a longer antenna I switch to the Melowave. I have a bunch (too many) of other antennas but they stay in a drawer somewhere these days.

My testing was more real world than scientific. My wife was inside our house and I drove to the point where our RX was breaking up and then test about 7 antennas from that spot. Of course YMMV. Good luck.

Yes, it’s the same antenna as the KG-935G/KG-935G Plus. The stock antennas are specifically tuned for 462-467MHz at our request, so they should be optimal for any of the GMRS radios.
