Plugged in programming cable, turned on radio, opened up the Wouxon software, selected the com port, couldnt read the radio. Tried three different cables, same issue. Checked for driver updates (all updated) unistalled updates and reinstalled (still did not work). Opened Chirp, done the load from module, still nothing. Purchased RT software, still nothing. I have reset the radio, pulled the battery, restarted my computer, checked for updates. Basically, I have done everything I know how to do to get this radio to be read and I have yet to figure anything out. I’m bummed out too because I bought this before X-Mas and had to wait what seemed like forever to get it. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, what is the solution? I’ve reached out to btwr for help.
I am going to throw this out there even though it sounds like you have done everything… With all of my radios I open the software and then plug the cable into the computer and then plug the cable into the radio and then turn the radio on. Again, you have tried a lot of things and it sounds like it may be a radio issue. I have a Q10H and have no problem with the CPS when I follow the order from above. My computer is old and I can’t get CHIRP to run so I only use the manufacturers cps.
I’m sure I tried that combination but to be on the safe side I went back and done the steps exactly as you said, still no success
You’ve tried three versions of software, so discount that, as with the 3 cables - they’d all have to be the wrong ones. You’ve tried updating drivers too.
This leaves us with the radio, but being new, I think we can rule that out at the moment.
Things to check - when the radio is connected and turned on, what does device manager say - is it loading the driver and displaying it as a comms device? On one of my windows computers, the chipset is mis-identified and windows thinks it is an audio device. I have not yet found a way to prevent windows doing the look-up and getting it wrong.
The other problem like this I had was the radio connectors. The shape of the supplied cable tip being a little different, and the radio connector simply not making proper contact. Had this on a retevis where the connector, pushed in hard simple did not make the connection. The solution was 2 plug to socket adaptors of amazon in the 2.5 and 3.5mm sizes. This enabled programming. Stupid when to the eye they are virtually the same, but clearly not.
What paulears said reminded me that someone was having a similar issue with a different brand radio that used the K1 plug. They ended up having to press the plug in very firmly and hold it that way while turning on the radio. That may not be the case with your situation but it is worth a try. Not making full contact could explain why three different cable won’t work.
I’ve tried it all, even with the 2.5/3.5 cable. When I purchased the RT software I also bought the cable, just waiting on it to come in and try that

So after much aggravation, I finally figured out how to get the software to read the radio. I am using Windows 11. I’ll do my best here to list the step-by-step instructions that I took to make it work.
You MUST do these steps each time you reopen the software.
I tried four different cables and could not get the Wouxon software to read the radio.
The software I used was RT Systems https://www.rtsystemsinc.com
- Open: Device Manager.
- Plug in your programming cable to a USB slot.
- Find: Ports (COM & LPT) and double click it.
- Read which port your cable is inserted to.
- Open your RT software for the radio.
- Top of program, click Communications then ComPort Setup.
- Click Show All Ports.
- Click Refresh.
- Click drop down arrow and select your ComPort number and click Ok
- Turn on your Radio.
- Click Communications then Get Data From Radio.
- Make your code plug.
- Click Communications then Send Data To Radio.
- Walla, you have programmed your device.
Wow! I’m glad you got it to work and thanks for posting the solution. My old laptop is running Windows 7.
I was getting very frustrated lol
