GMRS Repeater type (Open System)

Hi - I see a repeater near me on myGMRS.com and it says type is Open System with a 141.3 code.
Do I need to contact the owner to use it? I assume not, but new to GMRS so just checking because there is a button on the map that says “? Request Access”.

Welcome to the forum. Generally speaking if a repeater is listed as “Open” and lists the tones, requesting access is not required. Just have a GMRS license and follow the regulations for identification. I have never had an issue using “open” systems without requesting access.

Thanks, very helpful. The only other problem I was having is the interchangeable use of “transmission” and “conversation” in posts and websites, but I think I have it figured out.
