Re: Type radio handheld for rescue while hunting?

Re: any good?

Police go thru repeater systems. This extends their range. Point to point, without a repeater, you'll still have extremely limited range.

Amplifiers are illegal on CB. This post violated forum rules, where any discussion of criminal activity is prohibited. Thread closed, sorry.

Re: Do you know any good articles on how to choose frequencies?

I looked things up briefly. All I can say is there is a regulating body, and there is a radio spectrum breakdown. Here is the website: http://www.mtc.gob.pe/index.html You may wish to contact...

Re: Galaxy 33HML with no voice...

This is not a CB radio. This is a 10 meter radio that requires an amateur radio license to operate. Since you are using it as a CB, this violates forum rules regarding illegal content. Thread...

Re: New GMRS/FRS Rules and a question about power

Yes, I'll retract my earlier statement. As long as you are operating under 2 watts, you are operating under FRS rules.

Re: Copy settings from Anyone 289g to Baofeng UV-5R

Probably so, unfortunately. Unless a Google search turns up something free under the original anytone model number, you may be out of luck.

It's always best to research programming software prior...

Re: Copy settings from Anyone 289g to Baofeng UV-5R

The 289G radios are not supported by Chirp. So you are out of luck there. I imagine the OP downloaded his radio's info via the factory software, and his question was how to convert this info into...

Re: Cobra29 and amp problem

Amplifiers are illegal on CB. As such this thread violates the 5th rule of the forums. Discussion of any topic violative of the law isn't allowed. I've posted the rules for your convenience. I'm...

Re: Certified vs Uncertified Radios?

Ok... well. As you know, amateur radio operators can legally use Part 90 radios. There are *some* radios that are certified for both Part 90 (business) and Part 95A (old GMRS rule part, now Part...

In Canada, you will also require an amateur radio license to use these radios.

Re: Using UHF for family purposes...

Sorry. No. Not legal. Those radios, to use legally, need the user to hold, or operate under the authority of a business license. Business license holders are assigned their frequencies by the...

Re: Hello all I have a question

The TYT radio is not FCC certified for GMRS, so simply put.... you cannot use this radio to communicate with GMRS radios.

To use any GMRS radio, a GMRS license is required...but you MUST use FCC...

Re: Alinco Vs. Yaesu

It's all about what you want and need in a radio. It all depends on the individual. So, it is really hard to say which is "better" per se. You just need to do your research and look over the...

Re: Channel 20 hourly message

Cinci has a few GMRS repeaters. This sounds like the system identifying itself. The letters and numbers you hear is the callsign of the GMRS licensee that owns the repeater.

Re: Learning new guy question.

Well, Unless you are going through a repeater, a handheld radio won't work. That leaves you with two options: GMRS, which likely you'd have to spend a couple thousand building your own repeater. ...

Re: Learning new guy question.

Many handheld radios allow you to remove the antenna. Then you can just screw on the cable, leading to the base station antenna.... your handheld becomes an instant base station.

You'll need a...

Well, for that kind of range, a VHF MURS base station (or handheld) with an external antenna on both places you are communication to and from, will likely make the...

Well, there is no fast way. Legally. You'll either explore the legal options already presented, or shelf those radios and buy a set of FRS radios.

It is wide spread that many of these companies...
