Re: How are my dual-band radios different to my single-band radios?

There is no way to enable this. The only radio that could do this would need two completely separate transmitter and receiver circuitries. Consider that a two-way radio is not really made for...

Re: How are my dual-band radios different to my single-band radios?

You are misunderstanding the term "dual band." A dual band radio transmits and receives both VHF and UHF. A single band radio receives either VHF or UHF, not both.

What you are looking for is...

Re: Wouxun UV9D

No need to post in two forums minutes apart. We will help you when we can.

There are three menu items on the UV9D that affect backlight brightness. Turn the radio on, push MENU and use either the...

Re: Moto DTR550 usage with personal radios

Just to add to what Rick said, the Motorola DTR radios can only talk to other Motorola DTR or Motorola DLR radios.

They all communicate using a frequency-hopping, spread-spectrum algorithm and...

Re: Motorola to Blackbox?

Silly question, but did you program the new radios to the frequency you are licenced for or did the radios come with preprogrammed frequencies that include the specific frequency you are licenced for?

Re: Pathetic

Well, aside from the fact that my experience has been the opposite to yours - I have always found the forum helpful and friendly - I should point out that you are 100% wrong. You asked a question...

Re: Motorola talkabout T5720 repair

If you really are a communications technician, then you will NEED a good frequency counter and RF strength meter. A scanner will not tell you the strength or "privacy" tones of the transmitter. You...

Re: Factory reset SL7580

I think the reason no one can respond is that this may be a dealer-only function. There is nothing in any of the user manuals. It might be a function of the Customer Programming Software (CPS) but...

Re: Post site or forum issues here

For some reason, I haven't been able to post reviews on the main site for the past few months. I have tried from multiple browsers and multiple platforms, but the Write a Review just comes up to a...

Re: Do Not Buy from Buy Two Way Radios!

I am not understanding your problem. You bought a two way radio manufactured in China for a low price. There will always be issues and failures with a certain percentage of units. That's what a...

Re: Cloning problems with Kenwood TK series transceivers

LOL. Good point. Pretty low down on my list of things to worry about, I must say. Nor do I care what others do. I just find it somewhat amusing that some Hams feel they should be the airwave "cops"...

Re: Cloning problems with Kenwood TK series transceivers

Yes, I saw that too, but it was my understanding that Kenwood still charges for their software, making that an illegal download.

Re: Cloning problems with Kenwood TK series transceivers

Further to what Rick has said, I am assuming you don't have the TK3300 programming software or access to the list of frequencies and tones in the older radios?

If not, I have an easy suggestion...

Re: Getting some 2-way radios for the workshop

This is exactly correct.

If I can add another warning to this, an amateur (ham) radio such as the Retevis usually comes with a few preprogrammed frequencies from the factory. These are basically...

Re: Best Two-way radios for Hot Air Ballooning

Good point! Unlike the U.K., Canada and the U.S. have allowed airborne use of business frequencies on an as-licenced basis. Businesses can have their own dedicated frequencies for their area of...

Re: Best Two-way radios for Hot Air Ballooning

You don't mention anything about your budget.

The thing to remember is that EVERYTHING in two-way radios is a compromise. You can get cheap, licence-free radios with clear sound, long range and...

Why the high SWR readings with a handheld?

Does no one make a decent 8" handheld antenna? Is everything on the market a counterfeit?

I picked up a digital SWR meter, with the full understanding that it may not be 100% accurate, but at...

Re: What radios do you use?

You missed the point. In a previous post, you said that: a) you bought a Zastone radio, and b) you don't know how to use it. Neither statement was true. When you come on an online forum and pretend...

Re: Tyt th-uv8000d

The Motorola is a commercial-grade business radio, designed to operate on assigned business frequencies. The TYT is an amateur radio, designed to operate on Ham radio bands. It is not approved for...

Re: What radios do you use?

Seems to be a copy-and-paste spammer, as his advice is decidedly unspecific and unhelpful.

Shame on Zastone for marketing their radios by setting up fake accounts on internet forums.

Re: XU2600 programming

As far as I can tell, there is no Customer Programming Software (CPS) available for these radios. They are good radios, and met the narrow-banding requirements of the FCC, but are preprogrammed with...

Re: New FCC rules - Radios that comply

Not sure I understand what you are looking for. There is a whole page, with every single radio clearly marked "licence-free" if it complies with the new standards.

Or are you suggesting that...

Re: New FCC rules - Radios that comply

Most models can be searched on the FCC website to determine their actual radiated power, but save your time. In truth, almost every single consumer-grade bubble pack radio now complies.

Power had...

Our forum hosts at buytwowayradios.com have a great selection of good quality FRS radios and amateur (Ham) radios at reasonable prices.

Rules have recently changed to access more licence-free...
