Re: recommendation: metal manufacturing plant

The real issue for you is signal strength, and with your plant, loads of barriers to and reflectors of RF. I'm not familiar with the licence system in the US, but what you need is a repeater with the...

Re: Using Motorola mobile radio as a REPEATER and a 2 way

You won't find the usual commercial radios offering repeater capability. If the vehicle radios can access the system, then I tend to agree that using them would be the simple solution - BUT - in band...

Re: Web site relaunch and a little history

I wish I could see it! Clicking on the 125th link - just gives me one of those weird screens where all the text only headings appear down the left hand side with the rest of the page white.

Tried...

Re: radio vs CB help

I think you've got the wrong terminology. I wonder - do you really mean CB, or are you just calling a vehicle mounted radio a CB?

If you want a radio system - then it can happily be a mix of...

Did you find out what was happening, now you've read them?

Re: Audio In basestation

How did you put the radio into TX? On a radio with VOX capability, then you could do it by recording the alert with a starting tone - which would work, but your radio doesn't have VOX, does it? If it...

Re: Seeking help with Kenwood TK-360 radios

DOS? The software should work perfectly on Windows - are you sure you have the right version? You need KPG-56D which works fine on Windows.

Re: Motorola to Blackbox?

Your boss is a pillock!

The Motorola is a high specification digital radio with lots of programmable features, and the other one has many similar, but not quite so clever features - but the good...

Re: Questions about repeater and antenna setup

So you're doing a hierarchy access then? some get priority and use the A repeater, and the other is an overflow - and the problem is the overflow is a poor performer?

Silly question, but have you...

Re: Audio In basestation

You could do this with a base station, or even bodge a cable to use a portable, but the snag is putting the unit into TX - the computer needs to be able to do this - so that adds a bit of...

Re: Seeking help with Kenwood TK-360 radios

I think until you get the radios visible on the screen, you can only guess at best - so RX could be on the same frequency, but it's probable they're on a repeater duplex channel - so none of the...

Re: Questions about repeater and antenna setup

Sorry - I'm a bit confused. You have two repeaters on the same mast, trunked? There are a number of problems here, how close are they in frequency? If you are using the usual duplexer, the bandwidth...

Re: Do you know any good articles on how to choose frequencies?

VERY rarely, because it kind of defeats the point. What you could do is to look for blocks of international channels intentionally.
The document you linked to has some oddities - the UHF ham band...

Re: How do I add a broadcast channel?

If you mean that ch 1 has tone 1, channel 2 has a different tone and so on, and you want to do something to talk to every radio on the channel irrespective of the CTCSS, then I'm afraid you can't -...

Re: Do you know any good articles on how to choose frequencies?

There are similar documents that UK Government produce, but these detail bands, and not frequencies. To get permission to use ANY frequency your own country have to do it. We simply cannot help in a...

Re: How to get all three to work together ?

The blurb on one of them suggests DCS codes rather than CTCSS, to give more potential codes, so if that's the case - without reprogramming them, if you can get the software, which I suspect you can't...

Re: How to get all three to work together ?

Well - the two Motorolas are legal PMR446 radios, and assuming they're UK versions - the TH100 has the least channels - so transmit on these and the other Motorola should have that frequency and tone...

Re: Indoor Power to Kenwood TK840N

The cable isn't the issue, or the voltage 13.8 is standard, it just gets abbreviated down to 12V. Your radio takes nearly 7 amps on transmit, so you need to find something to connect your cable to...

Re: Do you know any good articles on how to choose frequencies?

Re: Do you know any good articles on how to choose frequencies?

Peru is unknown - but I suspect the choice of frequencies depends on the administration and how seriously they take Radio Frequency Management.

Most countries (including Peru) are members of the...

Wow! I don't usually post in this forum, because I've no real interest in this area, but I have to say for a new member to have made so few helpful posts that 'fit' the forum style and get miffed...

Re: Copy settings from Anyone 289g to Baofeng UV-5R

If the radio IS the Anytone 289G under the skin, the software for that is easily available online, so you just need the cable. I found a few leads for the cable for the anyone and the radio boss - so...

Re: Is there a secure way for two people to know how far they are from one another?

That's easy. Amateur radio is a community, licence users and of course radio listeners are in the hobby of sharing. Encryption robs these users of the ability to listen en clair - which is the core...

Re: Newbie post----Emergency Radios

Short answer - you can't. The range you want is unrealistic for radio to radio, and to use a repeater needs you to either fund one yourself, or become a radio ham, you and whoever else you wanted to...

Re: New to radio

Practically? Almost certainly - it does revolve around you getting the basic specs of the system if it's analogue. If it's digital, you need more info and a specific radio type. If it's the former -...
